Nominee: The staff at La Collette Green Waste Facility and Reuse and Recycling Centre
Nominated by: Elaine Paisnel
STAFF OF two major recycling facilities on the Island have been nominated for Customer Service Employees of the Year.
La Collette’s Household Green Waste Reception, and Household Reuse and Recycling Centre, were nominated by Elaine Paisnel, an Islander who regularly makes use of the sites said that the staff ‘could not be more helpful.’
The Green Waste Reception takes garden waste for composting, while the Reuse and Recycling Centre accepts any recyclable household waste, and also contains the Acorn Reuse Centre.
The staff of the facilities are outside in all weathers, but maintain a cheerful attitude.
Mrs Paisnel added: ‘Before I am even out of the car the staff are standing by to help me.’
She remembers one instance where she was slowly transporting things from her full trailer, when two workers noticed and sped up the process by lifting the trailer up, and tipping it out for her, even going so far as to sweep the trailer afterwards to get any smaller bits and pieces.
The good customer service they provide due in part to the fact that they are ‘cheerless regardless of circumstance,’ according to Mrs Paisnel it ‘makes your day brighter,’ and positive experiences with the facilities will encourage Islanders to recycle.
She added: ‘They could just point you in the right direction, but they do so much more than that.’
She says that the ‘lovely’ staff ‘richly deserve’ to be recognised for the help they provide, especially as, she feels, they work a ‘thankless’ job, that often goes underappreciated.
