Customer Service Employee of the Yearin association with

Roger Timlin

Nominee: Roger Timlin

Nominated by: Jane Le Quesne

A LOLLIPOP man who ‘always finds something amusing or cheerful to say to every child’ has been nominated for Customer Service Employee of the Year.

Roger Timlin, the caretaker for Jersey College Preparatory School, spends his weekday mornings helping children safely cross over Claremont Road as a lollipop man, and nominator Jane Le Quesne, who walks her granddaughter to school, said that the energy Mr Timlin brought to his job made crossing the road into ‘a fun way to start the day’.

Mr Timlin is frequently finding new ways to keep the children entertained on their way to school. Mrs Le Quesne said: ‘When it was “dress down” day he was dressed as a banana and claimed he thought it was “dressing up” day!

‘Whenever the children are in fancy dress he will always dress up too.’

Mrs Le Quesne believes that Mr Timlin’s attitude has a positive effect on students and added: ‘My little granddaughter is shy, and he’ll find something fun to say to her that will give her confidence to start the day.

‘Some of these kids may be tired or a bit down, and he always cheers them up.

‘He’s amazing when he doesn’t have to be. He’ll high-five the students, and knows the names of so many pupils, and they’ll stop and chat to him. He’s so good.

‘I look forward to crossing the road, which is quite something!’

With all the effort he puts into his job, Mrs Le Quesne sayd: ‘He must be exhausted each morning but never shows it!’
