Customer Service Employee of the Yearin association with

Manuel Henriques

Nominee: Manuel Henriques

Nominated by: Michael Guyoncourt

BEING ‘a nice, pleasant, helpful young man’ has earned Manuel Henriques, who works at the Flag and Whistle Café at Springfield Stadium a nomination for Customer Service Employee of the Year.

Martin Guyoncourt, who nominated Mr Henriques, has been regularly going to the café for about a decade and said: ‘It’s always been the same team and they seem to get along famously.’

He added: ‘He’s nice with everyone, so pleasant and courteous. Sometimes there’s 20-something people in the queue but he’s still smiling! It’s great to see someone so happy in their work these days. I go into cafés and restaurants and sometimes they almost throw your food at you! Manuel makes it a nice atmosphere. I love going in there at half-time, you always know you’re going to have a laugh and a joke.’

One of the main reasons Mr Guyoncourt nominated Mr Henriques is that he has ‘seen numerous times’ when Mr Henriques would assist a wheelchair-bound disabled customer who frequents the café, making sure he is properly cared for. ‘Manuel takes off his coat for him, helps get his money, cuts up his purchased food, and wheels him to the toilet,’ Mr Guyoncourt said.

‘It’s just so nice to see the two of them together, one so grateful, and one helping the other as much as they can. They’re a good team. What an amazing pair. It’s so pleasing to see two people in different positions like they are making each other happy.’
