Community Champion(s) of the Year
Pitcher & Le Quesne
THIS award is to recognise an Islander or a group who has worked tirelessly to raise money for a good cause or who has dedicated time to helping others.
The fundraising itself should take place in the Island, but the funds could be spent in Jersey or overseas. They could work alone or be part of a bigger group. Jersey is an Island of fundraisers, but who are the ones who are leading by example?
Jersey also has a dedicated army of volunteers who are the heartbeat of many charities and organisations, helping them to keep going thanks to their tireless commitment.
Some people dedicate their lives to helping others this way, and it can go unnoticed. This is their chance to be recognised, like last year’s winner Michel Féger. Mr Féger, who was nominated by his daughter has frequently taken part in events put on by Jersey Hospice, such as a 100km cycle and a 5km run, and also organised a 24-hour ‘static’ cycle ride, where he cycled on a gym bike for 24 hours nonstop inside the Hospice building. Mr Féger has raised thousands of pounds for the charity with ‘such pride, enjoyment, and dedication’.
