Ambassador of the Year
DESPITE its size, Jersey has a long reach, from helping communities across the world, fundraising at times of international crisis or simply setting an example to the rest.
This award recognises an individual or organisation which puts Jersey on the global map, which in turn may attract visitors, businesses and even investors to our Island.
These ambassadors, travelling, working or volunteering abroad, often go unnoticed in daily Island life but play a vital role, directly and indirectly, in spreading the word about Jersey.
The impression they give to others around the world reflects well on our Island and encourages others to learn more about the place that we call home.
Christine and Didier Hellio were last year's winner of the Ambassador of the Year award. The couple, who have worked together on their farm in St Ouen for almost 30 years, are involved in the annual PR campaign for the Jersey Royal potato. Mrs Hellio is a spokesperson for the Jersey Royal brand and regularly hosts and talks to visiting journalists about ‘the Island’s number one export’.
